...a bit of Chiapas....

And so.... not too very long ago, I was asked to tell many our family's friends about the recent Chiapas trip. This, in part, forced me to go through my Chiapas pictures and pick out my favorites! So, now you get to see them too. Don't you love my friends? Here are some pics from the trip and the team I met there. I tell ya (and I know you know this too), but traveling like this, you really get to know people fast! I made some great friends on this trip, and I'm really grateful. God keeps bringing amazing people in my path.

On the way to the jungle, we had incredible views. One very favorite thing to do was to hang out the windows (or ride on top of the car), camera in hand, enveloped in fog, YoYo Ma playing wonderfully in the background. That experience is unforgettable.

Here's getting the cars all packed up, and unloaded once we got there. After getting all set up, it felt like hammock city. The girls stayed in this bigger room, and the guys had a smaller one somewhere else.

Doing dishes in the jungle is always a blast. Never know who's gonna get wet!

Here are a couple of fast friends. Grace Ozuna Curry (left pic), and Laura and Amy (right).

El bano. =| The much avoided place, where it's safer to go in pairs. Where you test out your lung skills, and try not to breathe. El bano, we love you and we hate you.

Here are some of the kids around the village. They had no sort of problem getting to know us! It was so great! Before we knew it, we had a large and growing amount of kids in the hammock room. So, Laura and I started a huge game of the hand slapping game, singing Yo Tengo Gozo. Classic fun right there. The kids were so receptive, and just wanted to be loved on, like all kids do. It was easy to show them love. What was harder for me especially, was conversing and putting forth a lot of effort to get to know the older people. People my age, adults. (A lot of times it was hard to tell how old they were!) By the grace of God, I will keep working on my Spanish conversational skills. It was a little rough.

Here, a major game of Pato Pato Ganzo erupted. Or...commonly referred to as Duck Duck Goose.
If we did children's progams, it usually consisted of a craft, a game, and a story. Here you can see the classic Burger King crowns. They demonstrated God's faithfulness and love, and that He is eternal. This was a big hit.

I'll try to keep going and show you more! Stay tuned....
